Aldgate east

Hello! long time no see. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to update the blog lately, but I didn’t had a stable internet connection for a few weeks. I recently moved back to London to a new flat in Aldgate east which is really great. I’m sharing it with two very good friends who are working photographers too and we built a studio in the living room. The space is really nice and it’s great to be able to weak up and to have everything ready to shoot :)

An image of the studio, and one of some retouching time I was having the other night.

featured Deborah Turbeville

Born in 1938 in Boston, Deborah define herself as a ‘voyeur’.
Her images are made of mystery and drama and are artfully created. They are soft focus, and look grainy, blurry and scratched, usually the product of a long postproduction work. As she said: ‘I destroy the image after I’ve made it’.

Her most celebre work is the ‘bathhouse’ series she took in 1975 for American Vogue, and here again she is a voyeur, she photographs a private moment, where those women are barely dressed. she was accused of creating a scandal by taking the models out of the studios in those moody and sexual scenarios.

Larissa

On saturday I did a test shoot with stylist Elena Silvia Bara, make-up artist Sabina Zanzottera and Larissa at Das Models,

We had an editorial planned in a very beautiful location, but it started pouring rain. We changed plan, moved into a motel, changed the outfits planned and created a very grunge ’90 inspired look.

But first I had to shoot a few beauty images for the agency with very natural look, here there are a couple of them :)

I’m finally finished redesigning my website!
I’m quite happy with the result :) I scanned my favorite Moleskine to build it, luckily I still had a few white pages in it. Please give a look and enjoy!

featured Corrine Day

In the last commissioned shoot I did the client asked me to do something a bit different from what I usually do.
The main inspiration was the new wave of young people that take self portraits keeping their camera above their head and post them on myspace.
the inspiration came also from the ’90. When Photographers started emulating the snaposhot deliberately and avoided studio aestethic. their photographs looked autobiographical and uncontrived.
My main inspiration for the shoot was Corrine Day. Her images are well composed, but still look and feel like fresh and genuine snapshot.”fashion photography was presenting itself as bypassing fashion photography”.
My small tribute to this great photographer, and to Kate Moss, who had the right look at the right time.

childhood.

I recently found some drawings I did while I was in kindergarten.
I suddenly realized how important they are and how they really tell lots about me. they truly are a confirmation of my vision and the way I want to paint and see the world.
Sometimes I wish I was a good painter, I should practice more and get my pencils out of the drawer.
But photography is my medium. and even if I don’t like the fact that I need something so bulky and geeky to get things out of me I just can’t wait for the warm yellow spring light to lighten my next princess theme story.
(that will obviously be inspired by those images!)
